I'm still of the opinion that James was one of the pioneers of metalcore vocals because of this album. Obviously you had hardcore punk bands around the same time doing aggressive shouts and what not, but the way James screams on this actually sounds like what metalcore singers would be doing years later. Just listen to that final scream in Phantom Lord
