All structures tho...that ending, how the all song is writen fuxks me up.
This tho, kinda branches out bros. I find it delightful and its their most metal influenced album.

that might be why im not as into this record since im not really that into just straight up "metal". some of the stuff they mix into here isnt really all that compelling to me, and only about 4-5 songs are really top tier etid level for me

A Colossal Wreck and AWOL I could take or leave

post boredom is the only one i dont really vibe with. one of my least fav etid songs ever honestly. not a bad song per say as much as its just average but literally only the bridge grabs me and this band usually doesnt put out stuff i find mediocre so
planet shit is definitely stronger but the other 3 i still like more. colossal, desperate pleasures, and awol are among some of my favorite etid tunes ever so im really hoping the rest ends up grabbing me that way, bc my hype levels for this in december was off the charts high

Its fair onion. Yet they ll never be or have straight up metal songs. I found awesome they showing they have more on their sleeves, other than southern riffs and hardcore, even as a huge fan of all the previous ones. Tracks like Religion of Speed f.e. are a straight example of this. I think is really important bands keep reinventing themselves and not to repeat formulas. For the record this band is special even without this release, don t get me wrong.

religion of speed is incredible ill cop to that one being one of the handful of "next level" tracks here, if not outright the best track on the record
i honestly usually prefer the records where bands expand their sound and diversify their formula so i get why it ranks so high for others. i think another reason why im not as into it is im not all that compelled by like 80% of the vocal melodies on here either which are much much more prominent than ever before. would rather them just rip simply bc imo thats when the songwriting is its tightest, evident in my favs other being fear and trembling/just as real/cult/petal

What? AWOL is literally the best track they released out of the 5 for me easily.

[2] Planet Shit is honestly the hardest of the 5 singles
Post Boredom is kinda weak. Not really on board with the "my annihilation" mantra, but that melodic bridge is really nice
