it's funny as a band they had the hardest time placing the song, if you watch the making of koloss they argue for a couple minutes about it
basically saying it would have ruined the flow of the album if placed in the middle, etc

The Last Vigil works well at the end because it acts as a cool "calm after the storm" piece that allows the listener to reflect on the all-out heaviness of the whole record.
although tbh, Demiurge would've still been fine as a closer too. that song is quite possibly one of my favorite Meshuggah songs

my top 3 probably would be Demiurge, Behind the Sun, and Do Not Look Down. when I get the 8 string guitar I've been paying for on layaway at the end of this month, I'm definitely making it a goal to learn these songs

I didn't like that Vigil was at the end when I first heard it but it's a nice calm after the craziness of Koloss.
Top 3: I Am Colossus, Behind the Sun, Demiurge...Swarm is very close to making this though

the drums on Demon's Name is Surveillance are insane in how consistent they are. I just wish that the guitar solo wasn't so awkwardly placed in the mix
