ive warmed up a lot to different harsh vocals styles utilized in metalcore over the years but darkest hour's i still can't listen to for more than a minute without feeling the need to turn it off

"You mean the riffs that inspired hundreds of bands to imitate their form? Ok"

That's not saying much considering every riff on this is fundamentally a thrash riff. Sadly, under those circumstances, you're better off listening to anything else. One could say that it's unfair to compare this to the vastly different era where Alf was in the band but I've realized that even by the standards of the thrash and trad it attempts to emulate, Slaughter falls short. This album essentially innovated nothing.

"I don't listen to this album anymore"

Gee, I wonder why.

i mean regardless of whether its innovative or not or whether its as good as the earlier atg stuff i think this album is still good, like i don't really appreciate what it represents for the genre but it's still a catchy, fast, streamlined album with good production and absolutely no fat whatsoever

Yeah, they really did a good job of streamlining everything good about thrash and trad out of their sound on this 10/10
