It's pretty sweet and has some different guitar sounds compared to this which is cool. This is just a fucking journey though, especially the first three tracks.

it's very different. basically straight up neofolk. its really good. you should definitely check ashes out though, dude. agalloch (being the pretentious dudes they are) don't like it bc they call it their "pop album". its my favorite agalloch

I like the White better than several of their LP's, but I'd also say it's more similar to The Mantle than their other LPs. It's def in my top 3 agalloch but possibly my favorite thing they've done

If Ashes is their "pop album" then they're better at playing pop than any of the other styles they play.

ashes > mantle > marrow > the white > PF >

only thing holding the white back for me is that its not a full length. also, sorry to the pale folklore loving crowd. i think its really good but i've never had any sort of emotional connection to it the way i have with their other work

Am I late as hell to noticing that The Mantle now has a 4.4 average?

i think people are being ridiculously harsh tbh. there's not much immediacy, but i'm definitely enjoying it much more now

yah this is quite enjoyable and i had it as a 3 as well. the second and third tracks remain my favourites though.

maybe you'll find in time, much like what happened with this, that you come to enjoy the new album
