u have to get into the aesthetics. if u listen to music as an artistic endeavour (which, based on ur ratings, isn't the case actually), u have to delve into the vapid, innocuous but oh-so-true statements and the power of simple feelings, the self-love and feeling indestructible or fierce, the sincere enjoyment of fun, the dark implications that lie underneath seemingly innocent lyrics, the hazy nights of parting and the late-night drives, the anxiety of new meeting people, etc

Unfortunately I have only been constantly listening to music for one year and still have a lot to learn. Pop isn't a genre I'm as used to as, say, metal. I'm still learning the ropes.

Also, how am I not listening to music artistically? I approach it my way and do connect with the music. But, again, still learning the ropes in this genre. Maybe I haven't had the connection yet.
