worms will feed is my personal favorite here, Dark Horse being my second favorite. I actually like it more than Jane Doe

What's funny is that I get shit from people here about liking bands like Asking Alexandira while I was already listening to Converge and found out Converge is sputnik staff's "favorite" metalcore band. I agree that this band is epic. Mainly for the guitar work and drums though. Vocals actually aren't too good, but that's not the point of Converge, hence the 4.5/5 rating. It's like a heavy ass complex guitar-drum orchestra, and the screaming is essentially a one string instrument which some times sings, and that makes it "metalcore." This is far from metalcore if that's what it's categorized in XD

Wretched World is my favourite, followed by Dark Horse, the title track and then Damages

I found Axe to Fall too chaotic actually, but like what you like.

Damages is simple but its also one of my favorites as well

Axe To Fall was the first Converge song I ever heard and that usually helps

Ohh haha, must have been a strange experience (but a good one if that's what got you into Converge). When I first heard the first song from Jane Doe I was completely blown away. I thought these guys were fucked up in the head, but after a while I got passed the constant chaos and realized how brilliant the guitar riffs are.

basically I'd seen this manipulated photo/drawing of this gothic girl with large staples right down her arm around the same time that I first listened to this and I kinda linked the two. I guess the rawness contributed too

oh look I found it

for all it's dissonance and heavyness I've never been able to connect converge to anything "br00tal" or stuff like that, it sounds more organic and human to me if anything

I always saw them as a raw bludgeoning hardcore band

albeit one with a lot more creativity and diversity than others. I usually don't like hardcore

Converge isn't a straight genre. They sound very "human" a lot of the time but some times It's just creepy or under thought. I have to say the second half of the song "Axe To Fall" is pretty epic Anarchist. I just went back to it and remembered it was just the beginning that annoyed me, because it has no melody.

I love the opening. WAITING FOR THE AXE TO FALL; that always grabs me by the balls.

I linked it to my female cousin who listened to more mainstream stuff like radiohead and "dubstep" lying that it was something else and I think I scared her shit out lulz
