Ok to be fair I think that even ISIS at their weakest is excellent. I just listen to this one the least

Isis where probably my fave band for many years, saw them in front of about 80 people a bunch of times but I was MASSIVELY underwhelmed by ITAOT and then this didnt hit the spot either. Ive tried on multiple occasions to try and connect with those records but I just cant which sucks but thats the way it is. Everything after Panopticon I just dont care for.

I like Absence a lot more than this tbh. They have similar vibes at times but Absence is put together in a much more abstract way that I enjoy a lot more

I usually alternate with preferring ITAOT over this one and vice versa, but I think ITAOT would’ve been the clear winner for me had it not been for its production which I sort of felt was the album’s weakest point. I mean, the production works in the mellower passages but the heavier passages should've had a lot more drive and grit to it IMO. It sort of grown on me or rather I eventually got used to it but I think a remaster/remix would do it wonders.
This on the other hand I thought was their best produced album. Definitely not their best album for me personally, but definitely their best sounding one.

This grew on me massively over the years. It isn't as good as Oceanic or Panopticon but it is level with Absence for me.

It’s my 4th fav but it’s always been at a 4.5 so it’s truly not saying much lol they’re an astounding band

I think ITAOT was "Isis listening to too much Tool" but maybe a bit in this one too I guess.

"It’s my 4th fav but it’s always been at a 4.5 so it’s truly not saying much lol they’re an astounding band"
Yeah, I've got both this and ITAOT at a 4.5 (long time coming) and the lowest rating I've given for their albums (EPs, live stuff and etc. not included here) was a 4 for Celestial but that's a testament to Isis having what is for me personally the most near perfect discography IMO.

Yeah these guys are amongst maybe 2-3 bands that come close to near-perfect for me too. This one has such a hypnotic vibe to it. They get less crushing from Celestial > ITAOT obviously and so much more elegant in its place. Then WR they perfected the formula and were like "you're welcome, peace out.."

Agreed they’re won’t be many bands, if not many, any other bands I’ll give three 5s. They’re astounding.

Cult Of Luna
Coroner

Rosetta
Alcest
Mouth Of The Architect
Porcupine Tree
Fates Warning
Voivod
Godflesh
