I kinda love this review:

"Before you start listening, I would like you look for the crash cymbal on Concancation. You will find that it is in standard 4/4 time. Perhaps Meshuggah isn't as complex as everyone thinks? Yeah, then listen for the guitar. 3/4 time. Yup, so much for simple"

idk I think I caught it early on

my head would go 4/4

the rest of the body contorts between 3/4, 6/8, and the random cymbal hits

In all seriousness it is kind of hard to miss isn't it, the cymbal-vs-the-rest-thing. Especially when you keep an eye on Jens during live shows. As soon as you hear it once, you hear it everywhere. Makes it all the more fun to follow along in my opinion.

Can't really get into their newer stuff but maybe one day it will click. DEI and this are my go to shuggahs, but I have a ton of nostalgia for CC/None since it was my first foray into the madness

Those two (CC/None) are crazy good and very underrated (at least around here), so you already like four very great records by them πŸ’š

oh it will. dei is prolly their easiest to get into, but they definitely built on the ideas from it with each subsequent release which makes dei a sorta jack of all trades in their catalog. a damn good one of course, but bad meshuggah doesn't exist in this universe anyway
