I didn't like aov as much as everyone else. I think it's a good lead up to devil in I though. The middle tracks are where it's at imo

oh yea the production is pretty terrible

the drum snare sounds bad, it's not terrible, but the production on this album is better for example.

AHIG's high points are way better than those of .5 imo

This album's production makes it sound a bit more full, but I think the new one has a pretty cool claustrophobic thing to it. Psychosocial is awesome and all, but Sarcastrophe, Nomadic and If Rain Is What You Want are all far superior imo.
The Slipknot fans I meet in real life are mostly very irritating and obnoxious people. Obviously there are a few exceptions but that's really it. I can't decide if I hate Tool or Slipknot fans more and I love both of those bands.

I'd argue that Iowa and S/t have the best production... All nine members are actually distinguishable on the S/t, and Iowa has a really nice meaty guitar tone that gets my metal side good

First album has best production, agreed hard.
Tool fans tend to want to show off how much more they know about the technicalities of music theory than you, rather than actually having any discussion about anything.
Slipknot fans are basically what you described earlier, just a bunch of drunk morons who are obsessed with the image and how br00tal it is, but that's because they only listen to what is the absolute most mainstream music of all time.
I tend to not hang out with either of these types of douchebags, so most of my friends are not into the same music as I am.

The verses in The Devil In I and Killpop might be my favorite moments of .5: The Gray Chapter

Killpop is actually a pretty great track. Could use a way better name though.

Agreed Lucca on Tool fans, at least those today. My dad, who got Aenima the day it came out and was a fan before then in
the early 90s, he finds it hilarious and disappointing how much different fans of the band became after Lateralus, where they
became more concerned about hidden meanings and math than, you know, the ACTUAL MUSIC

I'm just going to wait until the album is released instead of listening to the leak. Looking forward to hearing it.

that requires great discipline, at least for me, if it's for a band you really like
i'd never make it

I did it with Opeth too. I hope The Endless River doesn't leak considering how historical of a release it is.
