anything by cannibal corpse is heavier and more brutal than this tho, and they don't get called brutal death metal for some reason. I don't follow this logic
edit: well ok, they do on RYM for example, but RYM is actually good with genres and it's only for a select few albums anyway. hmmm

This album isn't particularly brutal but there are some nasty parts. I think in part CC is more brutal, particularly Kill which has some very constant action with double bass and George's vocals blasting through your speakers.
Suffocation has much more variation and breaks in their music not being a wall of sound like many CC tracks

i honestly think we have a pretty big misunderstanding as to what brutal death metal actually sounds like. jam some disgorge and deeds of flesh and explain to me how this is really any different.
