It's hard to explain. I don't listen to this album nearly as much as Meddle, WYWH, Animals or DSotM, but I still wouldn't call it a worse album, maybe only slightly worse.
I think its really about mood more than anything, this isn't an album any normal person could bear to hear day in and day out. Its for incredibly depressing times, but during those rare times, its much better than any of their other albums because it is ridiculously personal and emotional.

Like I used to go door to door registering people to vote. Worst job ever. People cuss you out and disrespect you all day for trying to help them out, I even had my life threatened a couple times FOR KNOCKING ON A DOOR. I used to play this album basically every day I worked, it really helped make the day immensely less shitty. Albums like DSoTM just wouldn't have the same effect, it just doesn't fit that situation.

It's sounds like you're talking about The Final Cut. That album is ten times more personal and emotional than this.
