Need to jam that again Yak, yes. Only listened around the time it came out and I wasn't swimming in this pool of shoegaze/doom/ambient that I have been for the past few weeks.

There's a mix of sounds on here, part of its appeal

i'd describe it as post punk with industrial leanings, calling it shoegaze is a bit too far out and its not droney enough to be drone.

I still dont even know what post punk is, the tag is on everything from this to The National to Death In June.

that's because post punk is a really varied sub genre.

The actually definition of post punk is a group of bands that emerged in the late 70's and early 80's that began to experiment with punk music, given its limitations, combining punk with other genres and styles as well as other lyrical and emotional themes. due to the fact post punk pretty much is just punk music with experimentation/other genres mixed in it can be incredibly varied.

post punk is really the only "post" genre that makes sense as it actually emerged after a very thriving scene began to die away

Agreed with Bac. Calling this drone is a step too far in my limited opinion. Post-punk primarily, and although it has some gazey moments when the sound really just washes over, there's too many very empty passages, particularly in the first half (Quick One, Hunter, etc), that don't really make it true shoegaze imo.

I can't believe how much I love this now compared to how much I didn't like it on first listen.

Hunter is one of the most haunting songs ever made.
