I don't know about you, but I'm extremely excited to pay $45 for the new album from a mid-2000s emo band with no singles or additional information. This is just dandy. God bless the folks in Brand New.

Considering how quickly it sold out I'd say the only lesson they should've learned from this is to come out of the gate with a higher price.

I would argue that it's not about sales. This is a colossal slap in the face of a loyal fanbase that has been waiting 8 years for this moment. Granted, I wouldn't exactly lump myself within that group, but I'm more than aware of how much Brand New means to some people and I can't imagine this shit is making them feel particularly appreciated.

We're all gonna have access to every song for free before the official release date, LIKE WE ALWAYS DO, so I don't see why people would be freaking out.

It's the principle of the matter, my guy! A band jerking its fanbase around like this just doesn't sit well with me.

I was waiting for like 20 minutes to preorder tickets to their Boston show and then right as the the waiting bar to get onto the page is almost full it notifies me that the presale is sold out

I'm guessing they are releasing it on other platforms as well, not just a one-off limited time exclusive vinyl.
Because if so then fuck them for real.

No way they'd do that, they're too big of a band to do something that pretentious

it's a fuck you because god knows how many people have wanted to buy this album and own it on vinyl for the past 8 years and they release it in a limited number for $45 with no information. that's not even including shipping. now the vinyl is going to end up on ebay and discogs for likely hundreds of dollars and they're barely touring the album either.
i get it's their band and they can do what they want but it seems like their biggest goal in life is to shaft their fans in every way possible. a lot of people can't afford to just drop $45 on music, especially when we have no idea what the tracklist is or if the two singles will even be on it. i'm not talking about whether they release it or when. it the manner in which they operate. they're asking for the album to be bought up and then sold online for 15x the price. i'm all for releasing limited runs of things but post an alternate link with other vinyl options.

idk what to tell you man. capitalism? i mean its not like Brand New is the only band that does this, despite how much I dislike it, seems like a silly/trivial thing to get so upset about. esp since the album isnt even out
