i think what's tripping me up is how much we actually have in common, i can't really dig at anything in your 4.5's onwards, i either like it or haven't listened. i guess uh... sabbath bloody sabbath is not their peak? that's all I can think of and i like Sabbath (S/T and Master of Reality sweep)

these days Automata suits me best, the songs are more compact than songs prior in their career, and are about as heavy as those songs too. The songwriting is very fine-tuned to be memorable and catchy. AHIG is just the Slipknot album that resonates with me the most. Dead Memories, Sulfur, and Psychosocial are some of their best songs, and it has many fantastic deep cuts too.

Maybe I need to revisit Automata I then. I mixed it up with Automata II / Colours II so I was a bit confused. I do agree with you about the deep cuts on AHIG being amazing, but I think there are also some fckin awful songs there, but nice to see you can enjoy the full record haha
