@zak: divisions can be handled appropriately when dealing with respectful & reasonable people, it's not like minority views shouldn't be allowed to coexist alongside majority ones. Everyone's voice should be heard, no matter how seemingly insignificant their collective 'number' is. So I don't see that situation as a 'problem' per se, there will always be a dominant view, it's how people choose to express/use that where issues can (& often do) arise.

I realise this is idealistic of me to expect society to operate in this way, which in turn saddens me that something as conceptually simple (yet seemingly logistically complex) as democracy continues to create such conflicts, still it's better to keep trying than the alternative.

People forget that Morrissey was only one of the members of The Smiths and his political beliefs are not of importance for any of the songs on here, so I don't know why it would bother anyone. It's just an extremely well-done record with amazingly well-written lyrics, great singing and some of the most intoxicating melodies in all of rock. Don't care who did it.

That said, Morrissey has gone wayyy over board with ridiculous fear-mongering several times so there's that.

Well, if a view is apparent in a piece it's obvious that it is of relevance. I tend to view an album/a book/a film for what the thing itself states and suggests, and if a point of view is not expressed in a piece of art, it isn't of relevance for it (and its evaluation). I'd say it's largely the same in philosophy, just that it's very probable that a philosophical text will gather a LOT of the personal viewpoints of the writer because that's basically what philosophy mostly is.

And also:

"who knows

everyone is terrible"

Exactly. You can never know what kind of asshole made your favorite albums/films/whatever. You just can't know it for sure. (You also don't have to. They're yours as soon as you experience them.)

@Rik: Now I've heard this it doesn't bother me one iota, initial perceptions can prevent me from listening to something though, or at least put it off for way longer than perhaps I should.

Does it match up to Chloroform Girl by the band Polkadot Cadaver? Similar concept I'd wager

Love this, slight issue with the placement of the closer though, ends the album on an odd & slightly disappointing note in comparison.

the closing track shows of Morrissey's brilliant observational mind, where he informs us that some females are indeed objectively larger than others

Haha, yeah maybe I just don't understand the conceptual nuance behind the lyrics. Seriously though it just sounds slightly bizarre as a closer, the first time I heard this it felt like the album hadn't finished.
