pelican and mizmor's records come close, but this album is still better. I have to check out the esoteric record, but in the past the only funeral doom I've really liked was Hell. not much of a fan of esoteric's previous stuff

Esoteric is sitting firmly at number 3 for me. Funeral doom isn't for everyone, that's for sure. Give Antithesis of Light by Evoken a shot.

I totally get the appeal of funeral doom, I just think nothing ive heard in the genre comes close to Hell. that bass tone is one of the most savage things ever
