I really fuckin hope the rest of the album changes my mind.

I like everything about the new single except for the choice of chords in the main riff. They're kind of flat and boring.

Oh wow, ok I hear it now. They still sound super similar though

Both songs have been Greg songs. Confirmed full Greg album no Tom songs???

Yeah the production is my only issue. It’s not terrible, but the vocals are noticeably lower in the mix and I don’t think that necessarily fits this band’s style.

will yip's drowning out the vocals aint great but its not detracting from the song for me the vocal melody is so fucking good

Not a huge fan of America. The production is pretty bad, the snare sound is awkward and the drums are really high in the mix.

I'm still hyped for the album but oof... the production on these singles is bad. America sounds like a B-side demo from Rented World rather than a single off a new album. Haven't had a chance to check out all the lyrics but I can't really tell what Greg's singing because he's so damn low in the mix. Even the guitars just blend together. I'm guessing that's the final cut for the album and that sucks because I'm sure there's a good song there that we aren't going to get to hear.

I actually love Anna despite the production.

I don't mind the production. Kind of has the vibe of a live gig. I'd rather a touch too much reverb than a touch too little. I doubt any song on the album will top Anna but I do enjoy America.

i like the production better than here actually. it's a little more lively.

Anna is easily my song of the year. It's more my kinda song than what they usually put out. But I'm a casual fan of the band (adore the first half of Impossible Past though). America sounds a bit more like their stuff from this album, whereas Anna is something different, has more of a Jimmy Eat World vibe with its turn of the millennium nostalgia.

the new songs show the same songwriting issues this one has; more pop oriented structures with too much emphasis on choruses. that whole "quiet version of chorus and then repeat chorus one more time" thing on America is such a boring choice. they used to be more creative/tasteful structurally.
