there are two bootlegs floating around out there, "Circle of Fifths" and "Lost in Translation", both taken around the time of Public Strain recordings, that pretty much demonstrate that Women were at one point The Best Band in The World. and there's a rendition of Jordan, which is a top cut that never found its way onto any of their releases! another version of that song specifically, worthy of your obsession!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gcjLNrPV_k

Can't You See is working its way up to one of my fav songs ever. Such a fucking tone setter for this beast.

yeah I really like "can't you see". I just realized that it now makes for TWO and only two songs I know that change keys DOWNWARD (can someone musically inclined confirm this): "hung up on a dream" by the zombies and that one.

Happens in metal a lot, typically when bands will take a riff and move it down a step for drama, and I've generally heard that happen in various genres throughout my time with music. I think I've even heard it in a James Brown song. But I get your point, it is a MUCH rarer songwriting technique than having the key shift up and much bolder.
I also concur that these guys were pretty much the best band. Like, their approach to rock music and their "voice" were so singular.

Oh yeah, I do think James Brown has a couple of those, maybe Mother Popcorn or Cold Sweat. Good catch!
