They've never claimed to be anything of the sort. In fact, the band aren't interested in fitting into any kind of scene and rejects it completely by throwing the playbook out the window. So, not sure why you're in this thread with your insinuations and subtle insults towards the band. They are unfounded at best.

I'm just going to keep believing it's Saint Merat, or his conciousness plugged into a drum machine.

Drum machines aren't as good as JSM. In fact, I've heard that the Drumkit from Hell used to practice by playing along to Ulcerate's music until it passed out -- but never realized it was really by a human!

I never thought DSOs drums sounded programmed, they could be though I suppose.

I believe it is live drums but it's just arranged and worked on in a DAW at the studio or home or wherever these guys record. Just like the guitars.

I'm glad everyone who appreciate DsO seems to appreciate Ulcerate too. Avant-garde dissonant extreme metal is where it's at. Also, I love JSM but I feel like his style is a bit double bass heavy and I find it a bit odd that he only plays half time beats and blast beats and nothing in between usually. Regardless of all that, these drums definitely seem playable in one take. If Zach Hill can play his parts without a drum machine, anyone can play anything without a drum machine.

Actually here's a drum cover that someone posted of the entirety of Paracletus on Youtube a couple weeks ago. Pretty close to spot on too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOZ7ILTSdLM

In a single take? That guy's good, even with all the mistakes it's still respectable

Not slept on from me, I have analyzed all the lyrics on the album (and most of their others) and even created videos where the lyrics sync up to the music and uploaded the full albums onto YouTube with all of the artwork and lyrics in chronological order.
