Lol it certainly helped that within that time I finally got into harsh vox. Then I learned to appreciate how Turner sounds like a fucking animal and how their music sounds like no other when it comes to tone and texture.

I actually disagree with that. His peak is here for me overall. His cleans are better than ever on WR but I feel his harsh vox didn’t age well. Not bad at all though but he just sounds like no animal I’ve ever heard here.

I have no problem with his harsh vox, it's more the music that doesn't sway me on some tracks

Listened to WR the other day and it barely sounded like Post Metal anymore, but i certainly liked it and Aaron's cleans were super nice. Too bad he doesn't use them at all these days

I swear Isis are taking over Sput, there's always one of these damn threads (this or Panopticon) on my feed.

I should maybe check their other records, only heard this & Panopticon. There seems to be a lot of variation in opinion on which one is their greatest achievement.

Yea WR had its moments of post metal but it’s their own unique take on prog metal it’s very tasty xD

It's 0.22 above my current average & technically means 'great' which is nothing to be offended by. Quality records.

Thanks Mongi, sounds intriguing.

"Listened to WR the other day and it barely sounded like Post Metal anymore, but i certainly liked it and Aaron's cleans were super nice. Too bad he doesn't use them at all these days"

He doesn't use clean vocals much post-Isis cause he has said he's gone back to resisting using clean vocals period. He cites in a recent interview he did about his entire discography that the clean vocals in Isis was something that to him was heading into rock territory which in hindsight, he wasn't comfortable with. He adds that he doesn't like the idea of using clean vocals in the "standard" rock style in his music and felt that he had a hard time singing them without feeling insincere.

Surprising to learn that about Aaron’s opinion on his clean vocals. I’ve always enjoyed his clean singing
