have had this one for years, but never got around to the others

I prefer Third, slightly. It vibes like a West Germany arthouse movie from the 70s.

We Carry On, Hunter, Machine guns are tracks that destroy my soul. Third is so cartoonish and fake... like, at the end of the ride, it didn't even happen. It just exists in its personal space as an artistic masterpiece. It certainly doesn't allow to be compared too closely to their previous records.

Each and every one is a 5.0. Including Roseland NYC. There certainly are people who prefer the s/t as well, Source for instance. It's darker than this one. Third deserves all the love it gets, and then some.

No, but Third is close and I say that as someone who's started to consider this my favourite album of all time. Third is perhaps bolder, unpredictable, arguably more adventurous. s/t has an unparalleled 'smoky' sort of atmosphere.

It's fair to say that despite how much I absolutely adore this album, there are actually things both their other releases do marginally better (and that's before we get to NYC, which is also essential). Incredible band.

this is definitely their best for me. s/t did grow a lot on me & nyc os awesome even if i don't listen to it a whole lot. third is a bit hit or miss for me though
