It's the psychological exercise of ignoring animal cruelty that I like so much.

I prefer it to Siamese, and I'm guessing you will to given your rating for it :D

I just got to the first quarter of the second half
not really a fan of Thirty Three or Sleep, but Where Boys and Bodies are fucking awesome m/
and I looked at the second half completely forgetting that 1979 was on here and instantly went "WHAT THE FUCK WHY DOES THIS ALBUM HAVE SO MANY GREAT SONGS???"

That intro to Where Boys is one of my favourite moments in music
|
| |
Obnoxiously loud, extremely rambunctious, sloppy and care free and beautiful all at the same time
This shit's soooo good

yep this is way better than siamese dream
|
| |
Okay, Zero is fucking amazing
Like one of the coolest songs i've heard
|
| |
Only tracks I didn't really like on first listen were Jellybelly, Galapagos, Thirty Three, In the Arms of Sleep, X.Y.U.(probably will grow tbh), and Lily.
So this shit's really quite amazing and consistent.

and the songs that dont are usually fucking awesome. last two songs are beauts

| |
this and Boxer by the National are the two albums in rock history I do not understand the acclaim for, sounds so trash to me

"Galapagos" a low point? That song is probably one of the most gorgeous I've ever heard :/
BUT very glad and pleasantly surprised you like this so much ALA, album is high-quality. I haven't listened to this in so long, need to fix that soon.

it was just first listen man. I honestly forget most of Galapagos lol
I like to listen to albums alll the way though so maybe later tonight i'll relisten to it. That's a testament to the album!!!
I think Stumbleine was the best sad song here iirc .
And dude trust me, I am GLAD I liked this so much :D have problems trusting double albums

I guess it makes sense you prefer this one to SD, it's definitely a whole lot "dirtier"
and yeah we def don't have the same "weakest tracks" picks but XYU grew on me hard. not even sure "grew on" is the right term, more like smacked me in the face
|
| |
They weren't weakest tracks just tracks I didn't enjoy on first listen lol, totally expect some of those to become highlights later on
I think the songwriting here is just better. Also even though this can get obnoxious and a bit cringey at times it's so authentic and overblown and over the top, it really just makes the record more interesting as it lives up to this atmosphere and idea of a dreamland encapsulating the mind of youth. Like the ultimate overblown teenage 90's album there is.
