All I know is there are certain albums in my life where there has been a noticeable response from more than just normal fans. Eminem's Marshall Mathers LP is the biggest of my lifetime (31), but Devil and God is probably in second place. I fucking hated Brand New (still can't stand their previous work) and grudgingly acknowledged, almost immediately, that this was outstanding when it dropped. Me and everyone else. Its a fucking masterpiece, and one of the most important albums of the decade.
