Idk picking the only two songs to feature a rap like vocal delivery to go back to back is a big issue in the sequencing for me. I think ~metal dream works well as a late album emotional kinda track but cut hands should’ve landed somewhere earlier on the album imo
Aside from that this thing is damn near flawless

Chill tone album

If private music was the winning name of the album surely at least that numbnut guitarist considered Chilltones

What would actually be funny is if they reveal years later that this was fucking Eros.

It’d been their private music for years after all!

Album Rating: 4.5
That would be a fun little thing to do but no shot because
1. None of the songs that have been leaked from those sessions show up here in any form and
2. unfortunately they just wouldn’t do that, they’re in max profit mode now. They’re all getting older, if they were gonna drop Eros they’d heavily promote it as such

I am obsessed with this album, it sounds like Hum Rush and Helmet got thrown into a blender

their last album needs to be all out heavy

Ok, it's time to 5 this and call it my fav Deftones. It's become my goto Deftones album and it's at least on par with White Pony in my book now.

white pony isn't that special of a record so i get it frost

I struggle to not listen to this record in full any time shuffle pulls up a track from this. Cannot believe a late-stage Deftones record snuck into my top 5 all-time with barely any fight.

I predict at least two albums remaining in the tank for these guys (hopefully more, of course) and I hope they stick with Nick Raskulinecz. The trilogy of DE, KNY and this proves he "gets" this band like no one else does.

Yeah I’d say 2 or 3.

Not even close to their best agreed.

People really do love to glaze this record. Likely their last album though, with the biggest hang-up being Stef and his health

I mean, its good, but yeah, the glazing is super real.

I love them, have been and will always be one of my favorite bands, so I'm not saying any of this just to hate on them

They’ll continue even without Stef I think. Honestly, as long as there’s Chino and Abe, I feel they can continue.
Not saying Stef isn’t integral, I just think Abe and Chino are indispensable.
|

There's no Deftones without Steftones, though Chino/Abe can clearly hold their own. There's a certain gravity that comes with Stefen's riffs that would be sorely missed if they ever did carry on without him

I won’t disagree there, but I think they’ll carry on without him if he has to sit it out permanently.
