Have spun this more times than I care to admit because I have friends that are positively begging me to give it another shot.
Safe to say this still has not clicked. I have no idea what people are hearing. The whole album sounds so insanely over produced and lifeless. This is what "metal" would sound like if it functioned like the top of the industry and was put together by 5+ songwriters none of which are actually in the band. The album is further victimized by the weird need to drag every song out way past its welcome.
I've spun this enough times that I should have more to say about it, but it genuinely has not stuck with me at all.

idk, its pretty easy for me to see why a lot of people adore this band. its very accessible, somewhat trend-adjacent, and the only real barrier to entry is the occasional harsh vocals
doesn't make it good, mind you, but it is at least understandable why this band has so many fans

Yeah, it’s pop music with occasional hyper produced metal parts, and it’s definitely a thing that marketing wise I understand why it’s doing well. But it’s also completely soulless and watered down to the point where most people that have heard anything that’s memorable and remotely metal adjacent will turn their nose up at it. They will have a lot more success if they just ditch all the metal elements and embrace the fact they’re basically just a pop group

If you told me that was created when an AI was told to mix shitty post-grunge radio butt-metal (the flame paint job, wrap around sunglasses, wife-beating stuffs), shitty djent, and shitty imagine dragons pop, I would believe you.

I had only skimmed this the last few weeks and thought it was just bland and sorta boring groove metal shit with overwrought vocals, but now that I'm letting the songs actually elapse, there is so much absolute stomach-sinking cringe on this record. There are milk-out-nose inducing moments (pretty much any time the sequenced electronic hi-hats come in, amongst many other passages) that give way to the bland shit that make me recoil. DYWTYLM is reaallllyyy something...
(The last like 40 seconds of the title track are actually pretty bangin, tho)
