first two songs ehhhh I get it, those are the ones threatening to drop my rating atp. love the rest, catch fire is fun, catchy and earwormy and it's got a sentimental feeling with me. periphery when it goes all-in on emotional lyricism and focusing on Spencer usually is a win for me.

gonna be honest i have never once listened to this bands lyrics

me who pretty much got into them based on the lovelorn feeling I get from "Absolomb" and "Lune"
they're like a djentier take on stuff i've always loved, i think this album strays a bit from that but it's still fun

Calling News terrible is a w a c k take.
The band's lyrics from what I've been paying attention to are serviceable but nothing special; not what I listen to Periphery for.
P1 or Jugg would be my least fav, not sure which (probably P1) though both have stuff I love.

not really what i listen to any of these bands for tbh, outside of like early northlane. think erra's usually pretty solid in that regard too, both old and new

Tundra I haven't jammed Memphis May Fire in over a decade lmao. I have heard exactly 1 of their albums. Your analogy makes no sense.

yeah Erra's great in that regard. it's a coinflip on whether I like Spencer or Jesse more vocally, Jesse's amazing and Spencer has a distinctly ig "emo" inflection I've always loved.

jesse is still probably my favorite singer ever. only major competition for me is like, 80s bono lmao. i was a textbook saosin/circa survive disciple growing up so when i first heard erra and ghost atlas i fully thought of him as the second coming of christ
would be great if he remembered how to write songs again but at least he still sounds incredible

a very valid take. for me it's tough, very much a gerard way/chester bennington/geoff rickly/spencer sotelo/daryl palumbo race. but jesse deserves a high mention alongside like, aaron gillespie, hayley williams, laura jane grace

"Your analogy makes no sense."
You listened to one MMF album, irrelevant, you like MMF, so theres a high chance one would like Periphery in which case

My favorite vocalist has to be Gareth Mason from Slice the Cake, too bad the guy is piece of shit irl.. separate art from the artist

Gerard Way is also multi-talented, listen to his sick black metal shrieks on that Ibaraki song he featured on.

I will simply never get how some get a hate boner for ragging on a band they don't like repeatedly, I don't like black metal or Ulcerate, you dont see me in those threads day in day out saying how shit they are

Erra's new track Cure finally has me grooving to that band again

There's a difference Tundra, bm and Ulcerate are actually good.

i'm just gonna spare you the generic preamble of "music is subjective" and just say that that goes both ways if you're gonna take that route. AKA: if you're a Pantera fan, expect this shite back.

One the greatest Norwegian folk albums I've ever heard bar none. Vocalist Katrine Stenbekk provides a world class vocal performance all throughout. There is not a single dull moment in the tracklist as theres always an infectious melody or a beautiful one that will keep your attention in a vice grip. The songwriting all throughout is exceptional, with tremendous thought of restraint that allows the tracks to breathe and sink into your soul.
