This is their masterpiece imo (I say that as a completely new fan who's listened from Ire Works onwards)

Definitley check out Miss Machine and Calculating Infinity, but as a fan who’s heard all their material, I agree.

I've found it hard to actually rank Dillinger, because I don't want to put Ire Works on bottom (doesn't get enough love imo) but I know if Miss Machine or Option Paralysis gets put on the bottom, people will get triggered.

There are a lot of people who only dig Calculating Infinity and maybe even Miss Machine, but when Greg started using his whole range of vocal styles many people were like "this isn't metal enough". I never got why people loved Miss Machine so much, the production sucks badly. But why would you rank Option Paralysis at bottom, Agent? (Genuinely asking, because imo OP, OOUITK and Dissociation are pretty consistent)

Yeah the production on MM is kinda shit comparatively speaking, but you just can’t beat the end of Baby’s First Coffin. Unretrofied and Phone Home are fucking lovely as well.
My tentative ranking:
1. Dissociation
2. Option Paralysis
3. Ire Works
4. Miss Machine
5. One of Us is the Killer
6. Calculating Infinity

this is the band's weakest imo
need to re-jam because it's been awhile but this is the album I come back to the least

Really it's still amazing but just not quite there for me.

Don't get me wrong, I would kill for a Miss Machine version with a state of the art production with Kurt Ballou (like Dissociation) or Will Putney (like Night Verses' newest gem). But I am a real production nazi and I can't get used to bad production which is why I can't enjoy most records prior to 1990. I hate it but I can't change it.
I would rank it like this:
1) Dissociation
2) Option Paralysis
3) One of us is the Killer (interchangeable with 2, depends on mood)
4) Ire Works
5) Calculating Infinity
6) Miss Machine
Why would you rank "One of us is the killer" as 5, Wildcard?

Miss Machine needs a remaster.
Other than that it’s perfect.

OOUITK wasn't on the same plane as Option and this imo. Still great tho

I love that Greg was stretching his vocals on Killer, but there’s too many songs on there that have that generic verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus structure. Nothing’s Funny, Paranoia Shields, and the t/t all feel like they could be played on the radio, which isn’t indicative of their overall quality (the title track is actually one of my favorite Dillinger tracks), but it is worth noting. The instrumental is boring, and there’s no real dramatic centerpiece. Option Paralysis had Widower, Ire Works had Mouth of Ghosts, Dissociation had its t/t. Hell, even Miss Machine had Unretrofied.
One of Us is the Killer is a great album, and I still maintain that the first two tracks are probably their most blistering openers, but too much of the time it feels like it’s just retreading old ground, but not being as adventurous this time around. 4/5

Yep totally agree, it's still super badass but a bit by the numbers, especially for DEP

Check out Irony if you haven't heard it yet. It's the best thing they've done in my opinion.
