Rush didnt fall into the trap of trying to pretend that prog rock was still cool with this album so its an automatic 4 on the principle alone.

Production is so muddy and this doesn't have the finesse that good Rush albums display.

I visit my dad basically every summer, I'm sixteen and living in the U.S., I used to live in South America for eleven years of my life and my dad still lives there so it's become standard for me to visit him.
It's always a good time despite many shortcomings but we make the most of our time, and the thing we share the most love for is music so I always bring a case with a shitton of CDs I buy since the last time I've seen him and share them with him throughout the two months we get. He shares his collection as well, it's pretty admirable and after so much time I've only listened to such a small percentage of it. He's a radio show host amongst other things and he runs a daily two-hour program in the week, then he does a two-hour jazz program Sundays; His collection is majority jazz, then prog rock.
He was playing this Rush album on a carride one day, he's a huge fan and obviously he's the reason I also listen to a lot of the music I listen to today; This is basically the worst album he's ever shared with me lol, it just feels like the band ran out of fuel and stuttered out an album. I wish I could get this as much my dad and y'all do.

Clockwork Angels... [insert] best since... etc... Grace Under Pressure? Best since 80's Rush for me.. pretty good feat Wham! Ha ha, I'm not as Rushin' as you guys, but this one took me back a little. If you were to delete the last 20 years of rush and have one record stay I'd pull this one, totally necessary. I gotta keep on my toes round these parts with Titan around though

Rush's "we ran out of ideas" phase was the late 80s up to their hiatus. At the very least, this album has an imagination to it and some pretty killer tracks (carnies, the wreckers, and caravan come to mind).

jeff, I try to push the envelope with that cat, want to be honest though, no sense saying you like something more than you do, they also need a little dose from someone not under the spell, although I love Rush up to around 84

Saying that new albums by Yes and RHCP are better than this is one of the more appalling comments I've seen on here recently, but to each their own.

Hey do not talk about me, and I half relistened to this after work and the same comment, what is with Geddy's voice, the muddled production, and yes the bands I listed made about the same quality album as this is, you guys are just dilusional foloweres which is fine, That is how I am with sabbath, although 13 is a greqt album, at least the same place in their canonas this is in RUSH's
I do like the harder rock angle, thought they were always a good hard rock band when they did it, but guys 4.5's Titan dont you have 14-15 at 4.5 or higher, that is pretty bias IMO

This is still growing on me, a pretty strong album. It's even more amazing considering the point of their career they created it at. I even don't mind the production as much as most of you guys although I'm usually quite sensitive to this issue.

I can understand the angle where Wham is coming from, I may be biased for being a rush fan for over 20 years.. not as much as Titan, Led Zeppelin calls, but being honest I don't listen to much post Power Windows.. more of a conditioned kind of thing.
I absolutely agree with the sound being muddled and the production not being up to snuff, it's not great, but it does the job.. and that's my major complaint with Clockwork Angles.
