That's crazy lol. I didn't realize they had haters. I thought this band was pretty well liked on Sput.
To be fair, this is the only album I've ever listened to from these dudes. No idea if the rest of their catalog is solid or not. But I do like this album for what it is... djenty early 2010's metalcore. Takes me back to HS lol.

no sleep is very catchy and fun. not really like this, much more melodic and focused on hooks. check it out!

This kind of metalcore just never did it for me. I found djent influence worked better in the deathcore/mathcore scene and bands like Danza, Ion Dissonance, A Life Once Lost, Veil of Maya brought more to the table imo. I also think age has something to do with it as a lot of people are nostalgic for shit like this these days

yeah i listened to periphery when i was like 16 and checked out all the big djent bands, especially ones on sumerian. tons of nostaglia for me. it was a legit fun musical innovation to live through and follow in real time. i think there was actually a strong peak. the stuff today is so watered down and terrible. it's beyond run it's course.

I do miss the original Barr and Gus vocal dynamic. Gus has a really unique scream IMO. Actually even when it was Myke and Gus it was pretty cool too.
With the latest album I genuinely cannot tell which Mike is screaming most of the time. Which is kind of weird because I feel like I could on their last album.

I can tell either Mike's pretty easily, that Barr belt is undeniable. But I agree, Gus brought a certain flair to the duo vox dynamic that contrasted well with Barr, especially on this album.
