yah I was definitely surprised when I heard it because lots of people (you included) spoke so highly of it but I didn't like it nearly as much as this or Boxer. it's really really good though, I just probably need to let it grow a bit more. I've recently decided that The National are in my top three bands of all time, and I haven't even heard their first two albums.
14.5/15 is a pretty good score for three albums though.

The National is a pretty lackluster album but Sad Songs has some really great songs and some that fall flat.
Cardinal song is absolutely gorgeous though
