Systematic Chaos had a lot of great ideas and melodies but two things killed it for me: the horrible horrible ultra clean production, and portnoy’s distorted backing vocals.

Just went and back and listened to “Dark eternal night” again the verses with his vocals are so bad I’m actually surprised the producer/label/whoever even allowed it. Catchy chorus too but the verse is terrible!
