I can't help but think if this were released with great production, and then this recording was leaked, that almost everyone would be like "watch out for the bad quality torrent going around"

"production, and then this recording was leaked, that almost everyone would be like "watch out for the bad quality torrent going around""
yeah probably, but this is a bad quality recording any way you look at it. And I like that.

ayyy nice, love that album. And yeah by all means jam the remaster, hopefully it changes your overall opinion on the album for the better too (: trust me i completely get why some might find the sound of this to be too much, but some of us like it especially because of the chainsaw-through-a-beehive production

Yes, and we would scoff at those posers.

I'm glad to see I could stir things up around here. I will not question your chainsaw-through-a-beehive production but leave me the other 90% of BM that doesn't sound like this.

there's waaay more than 10% bm that sounds like this or way 'worse'

About 70 percent of my black meal collection sounds worse than this, this album was a huge part of me delving into raw/lo-fi bm.

There is a difference between lo-fi production and straight up painful to listen to. There are plenty of BM albums I enjoy without any discomfort. If I've learned anything about black metal, it's that the genre is incredibly diverse and there is much to be found and enjoyed in all corners. To generalize my feeling of wanting greater clarity in such a technically impressive album to "the genre just isn't for you" is the kind of elitist bs that has been giving BM fans a bad name as long as I can remember.
"Idk if I've ever disagreed with anything harder."
lol Hawks what part of this do you disagree with so hard? This all seems pretty reasonable to me.
I'm not saying that WatchItExplode's comment echoes my views exactly or anything, was just curious when reading through this thread what exactly it was about his comment that you disagreed with so strongly.

"chainsaw-through-a-beehive production"
Most accurate descriptor I've ever heard tbh

Not this again.

and some people can't seem to get that others get enjoyment from lo-fi production on a bm album of all genres lol

Oh yeah. This thread has been mild torture for +10 pages.
