Good luck hearing anything from Ruin. I saw them live shortly after the release of both Hollow crown and Daybreaker and they played fuck all from Ruin.

I think they're just more into playing the somewhat easier/fun material than the technically impressive stuff they started out with. I remember seeing an interview with them long ago where they spoke of creating music that wasn't as demanding live.

"This is like standing on the edge of a cliff in some windy ass rain."

true i can imagine the easier stuff to play live is more fun but maybe thats why their newer records arent amazing

It's VERY MUCH why their newer records aren't amazing. I liked Daybreaker, but that LF//LT or whatever was pretty bland. No replay value there whatsoever.

To be fair at this point most of their fans probably aren't aware of nightmares or ruin so it wouldn't be all that fun live

i dunno maybe theyll eventually get bored of their new sound become a bit more self aware and make a devastatingly mathematic core album again that makes us all want to spin around in our rooms

True. It just seems like they could be so much more, because the newer albums show theyre progressed in a lot of ways but at the same time toned down or regressed in others

I'm sure I read they're doing a new album this year. See, I was the other way, I really enjoyed the last one but found Daybreaker a bit weak. Still nothing compared to this though.
