Dry production on Focus and rather 'eh' vocals keep my rating for Focus below my rating for Traced In Air. Though Focus has bewildering musicianship, Traced In Air just tops it imho.

Can't stand the vocals on Focus. The only thing I like more about it is Malone's Bass work. Traced In Air just 'clicks' a lot better imo. Not to say that Focus isn't good by any means (as that is just an absurd statement), I just feel that Traced In Air is far better.

This album fulfills the very purpose of it's creation. Great music for altered state of minds. Focus is better instrumentally, but the overall effect of this is enticing and conveys better atmosphere, in my own opinion.
Like I said, the vocals + flat production ruined Focus for me (well... not really RUINED, but case in point).

Focus' production isn't bad for what it is. This just has better production since it was made 15 years later with a much likely larger budget.
