Dark Side is a classic for sure I just listen to this and WYWH a lot more. I haven't listened to Piper in years... might have to revisit.

Ahhhh I can't even pick a fav out of Meddle, WYWH, Dark Side, and Animals. They're all sooooooo goooooooooood!

Meddle would round out my top 4 too. Obscured is also great, even if it gets lost in the shuffle of the rest of their 70s output.

I've got some deep emotional attachments to dark side, it struck a lot of chords with me personally. Plus I honestly think its one of the most diverse sounding albums I've ever heard and the lyrics and songwriting are as perfect as music gets IMO. And it was really the first album I attached to in college when I was coming into my own personality etc etc
I love Piper a lot but its almost a completely different band than this

Heh sweet
Honestly as far as overall themes go, I think dark side and wywh are a hell of a lot more similar than people talk about. Just that wywh got more specific to Syd and his mental state and how the band has been affected over the years rather than insanity mostly in general like dark side

Not many people on here know of it but The live Ummagumma album. Its tracklist is Astronomy Domine, Careful With That Axe Eugene, Set The Controls To The Heart Of The Sun, and A Saucerful Of Secrets. And they all sound so much better than on the original albums. It's really awesome, my buddy has it on vinyl, I'm so jelly. But it's not even really Ummagumma live though because there isn't even a song from that album on there lol.

this and dark side are both classic

wack the "ummagumma live" album is disc 1 of ummagumma itself... disc 2 is the experimental stuff
