Yeah but the new album is way more focused and actually knows what it wants to be. Also a much better representation of their older stuff mixed with their new stuff...now that I think about it The Gray Chapter really doesn't have much in common with this album at all, aside from it being the same band and all. It's not exactly City or anything but The Gray Chapter is still pretty awesome imo.

Typing on a phone, didn't mean to be repetitive. New album is different in atmosphere, songwriting, production, etc but I guess the lyrics still kind of suck.

Agreed about that Vol 3 statement, I don't even remember any bad lyrics off that album from the top of my head
And I would prefer the pre adolescence anger driven stuff as opposed to awkward 2014 slipknot lyrics. Surfacing lyrics are easier to lift/mosh to...hard to get as amped for a song that has embarrassingly awkward lyrics than one that has immature/vaguely furious lyrics. This post sounds like I hate slipknot but I do really like them.
