"This album hasn't aged well"
What a stupid ass take

The number of times they'd start a track with an awesome riff and just never come back to it was kinda maddening. The vibes were thick. Maybe, too thick?

My niece just turned 2 and I'm hoping, as her favorite uncle, she'll be down to listen to some headbangers when she gets a little older. Maybe I can find a "Ms. Rachel goes djent" and start the transition early.

After less than a year this still goes so hard. Top 3 Deftones confirmed. I can see this becoming my fav Deftones at some point.

For me this was the kind of album where i was real blown away the first couple of days but then all the songs started to sound so samey, but i think thats the productions fault because the band sounds phenomenal and there are a couple of real good tracks here

I feel like every track sounds different. I can pin point each and every one and what I like about them. Currently my favorite track is Ecdysis.

cXz has grown on me so much… cut hands is really the only song I don’t love. Another user pointed it out but the ending breakdown is literally the same as Diamond Eyes with a single extra note added. I don’t think the almost rap flow works at all, ~metal dream fairs much better with that and has a way better chorus.

The sameness comes from the production for sure. Each song is distinct enough, but they're all sort of veiled or glossed in a spacey/reverb-heavy atmosphere so the easy flow makes you forget you're listening to a different song at times.

The production here is fucking flawless tbh, I kinda wish KNY and Diamond Eyes sounded closer to this.

Yeah, for me, the production is A+. I'm just trying to reason why some would argue the album is too samey.

I agree. I don’t get the “samey” feel at all. Every track stands on its own merits.
