Basically apart from the title track the first disc is unlistenable dogshit (Normal Person can survive purely for the guitar in the chorus). Then miraculously the second disc is all top tier songs and probably my favourite Arcade Fire.

This album is so underrated. I might agree that this is their 2nd best

My half assed power ranking:

1. Afterlife

2. Awful Sound

3. It’s Never Over

4. We Exist

5. Here comes the Night Time (and pt ll)

Next few in no particular order: Reflektor, Normal Person, Supersymmetry

I enjoy all of these

Not sure if I like this one, album drags on way too long and too many songs overstay the welcome. Plus it's just a bit... Boring? In concept this should be more interesting than Suburbs, but I'm finding it all very stale.

The 4-5 really good songs on this pull their weight, I feel. I still think Afterlife is one of their best songs, despite it having less-than-good lyrics.

There's definitely... Something. I do like some of the musical flourishes throughout the album, especially some of the piano parts, they're quite nice. But I'm left not exactly wanting more. Joan of Arc is a fun tune though, also quite like Flashbulb Eyes and It's Never Over. There's definitely something worth checking out but not sure if it will stick with me or grow. Only time will tell I guess!

I know I'm wrong, but I've already forgot Afterlife and I've listened to it about 5 times now?

Agree with Sandwich on this one. Definitely not their most creative piece ever, but several songs here are among their very best and make me return to the album based on their pull alone.

Yeah The Suburbs mops the floor with this album when it comes to track-by-track consistency (personally not a huge fan of the debuts but I’m sure some will say the same about it as well). This album has some great songs though

I know the suburbs gets hate solely because of how successful and mainstream it became, but god damn it’s a great album. Listening to Wasted Hours now and it beats anything on here for me

…if I’m in the right mood Awful Sound tops a lot of The Suburbs tracks though
