There's something missing from this one, I think. The melodies are great but I feel like I've heard them all before.

Most of the album is standard tuning classic indie rock (so will feel familiar), for the most part the songwriting isn't what's experimental here - the band were certainly starting to embrace different textures (see 'planet telex' and 'bullet proof') but the star of the show is Thom's vocal performance, here he sings more conventionally than on Kid A and he has/had an incredible voice for this type of singing. Jonny's guitar playing is a lot of fun on Just and My Iron Lung too. If you enjoy those two performances you'll end up loving the album, if not you'll probably prefer the 'artier' later stuff

yeah this is probably thom's best vocal performance. also these tunes dang, how is it possible not to fall in love with fake plastic trees, bulletproof and street spirit?

The singing is great, I agree with that much.

Planet Telex & Street Spirit are probably my favorites at the moment.

So a recording of Thom Yorke playing "High and Dry" with his old band Headless Chickens in the late 80s has surfaced: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UgEJiIAeOwk

the feelage on this is like 0.21 feels per capita per song i.e. not very much at all.

in fact, a lot of the songs bleed together :/

Idk I get hard feels from this but perhaps it's nostalgia.

i can understand that, no doubt. i first jammed this a few weeks ago so my feelage is exponentially lower than it would have been years ago.

i find the songcraft on here is too basic, too normal unlike what they do for the next two (honestly i should bump this down).

I mean I can understand someone not liking this one more than I can understand someone not liking Kid A or OK Computer
