I prefer Moonlit Knight as an opener but I prefer Foxtrot as an album [2]

I'd rather reiterate that The Lamb is the best album ever and beats both :D

For me it's Foxtrot > Selling > Lamb > Trespass. While there are a bunch of great tracks on Lamb, the

length is what I'm trying to get past right now. I'm not usually a fan of double-disc albums (to me,

there comes a time when an album just has too much content) but I'm finding myself really enjoying

Lamb. The opening title track is amazing

Ah yeah fair enough JT, all have been growing on me a lot recently

Currently

its this > Lamb > Foxtrot > Nursery Cryme > Trick of the Tail > Wind & Wuthering. Don't care for the rest

Yeah fuck the rest (except maybe Trespass), no Hackett no deal.

@Leaves: I honestly wouldn't remove (or change) a single moment from The Lamb. Its length really isn't a problem for me cos it's so damn consistent.

Yeah, despite the lack of Hackett's presence on Trespass, I find it to be an underrated album. Maybe it's because of my fondness for folk music, but I like that side of Genesis on that album. To me it didn't feel as much like an embryonic version of their sound as a different experiment entirely, and I love the softer moments. Plus, despite the softer moments, The Knife is a fucking Genesis classic

Re the Lamb, I could do without Counting Out Time, although the lyrics are great

I didn't enjoy Trespass much at all, the songwriting was decent but they didn't have the skill to play any of it at that point
