s/t is really not that interesting to me. it's aight, i guess... but there's something infinitely more universal and profound here, i think.

album is too weak towards the end to warrant a 5. s/t to homeless is clearly filler. spent 5 years making the debut, and a week making this and it shows.

kindred and street halo are the only others that match this imo

I like "rough sleeper" a ton, probably my favorite track outside the two albums other than maybe what was that one song uhhh "unite"? that one you can throw on in a number of contexts...
kindred is excelente, street halo slightly less so but still great, and I respect the direction in which he's gone. it's just not quite on this level for me

I've always considered Kindred, Loner, Ashtray Wasp, Truant, Rough Sleeper, Rival Dealer, Hiders, and Come Down to Us to be his "LP3." I suppose you could work the Street Halo EP in there, too. I haven't been a huge fan of his output since then, though (and idk Rival Dealer EP is easily the weakest of that prime era). Nightmarket was pretty cool, and I've found some enjoyment in the ambient cuts, but nothing since 2013 has struck me as achieving that sublime balance of challenging structure, intricately organic design, and raw staying power (there is one notable exception: his 2017 remix of "Deep Summer" absolutely fucks).
The track he dropped yesterday may be my least favorite Burial cut yet. I get that he's trying to evolve his sound, but I'm not sure that superimposing his pet sounds over a jittery rave freakout really qualifies as an evolution. The manic vocal samples are kinda nauseating, and the music makes me feel frozen out. I dunno, we're all entitled to our tastes, and I'm happy for anyone who digs this, but to me it's a pretty joyless experiment in Burial technic
