Overrated repetitive record.

This album gets so much praise because of it's production. Sure, Immolation finally got that right, and sure it's crushing, but that cannot save the first 5 tracks which are forgettable. No memorable riffs to be found, bass is non-existent, and the vocals are tiring.

Speaking of the the vocals, they are so fucking monotonous. It's boring growls until you hit track 5 when Ross Dolan finally mixes it up with a scream, but then continues to repeat the same shit for the rest of the album.

The true highlight of the album is Alex Hernandez's drumming. He just pounds the shit out of the drums. A lot of good blasts, splash cymbals, and heavy hi-hat use.

The album only starts to pick up when it's nearly over... The last 3 tracks, notably Lost Passion and the title track actually have some decent riffs.

The problem with Immolation is that they have remained so consistent, and by consistent I mean consistently average. The first album, production aside, made a good impression for it's time. After that, it's all downhill with the decent tracks scattered across albums.
