Perfect thematic cohesion and the most unique pairing of bottom string rhythm with melody I have ever heard in music. And it really could have only happened during that part of the scene era. Genius album that many won't appreciate and imo now a certified classic in Metalcore.

Agreed man. Execution is flawless and most just can’t look past open notes mixed with synth

People look at old AA and say "lol all bottom string open notes so boring" and then turn around and say the Doom soundtracks are masterpieces. Mofos can't get passed their own biased expectations. This album is rhythmically on par with Meshuggah but in a lyrically and stylistically more juvenile context and that's totally fine.

Nah man the execution here is horrible. Their s/t, Death to Destiny and The Black all have pretty solid execution even if they're not wonderful by any means.

The execution is deceivingly genius. They knew what they were doing and made exactly what needed to be made. It didn't need to have any more production, complexity, or refining. It is great being as loose and lyrically funny because it's all apart of the theme of being an ethereal, juvenile electronic metalcore album that gives zero fucks.

i don't want to be impolite but what the fuck are you actually talking about lol. This is rudimentary melodic metalcore. it having some wonky chugs on occasion isn't comparable to anything remotely resembling avant- or tech metal.

It really isn't rudimentary but you can imagine all you want.

dun ununununun dun ununununun is basic metalcore chugging? i mean point out to me an example of extended technical riffing that isn't used sparingly for flare, bc im listening now and not hearing any.

It SOUNDS like basic metal-core chugging but is far more creatively unique that 90% of scenecore from that era.

Also, slow =/ rudimentary. It isn't actually basic, it's just slower than typical tech metal that leans more on rhythm. Which is why I mentioned Meshuggah, because half of their discog is literally open bottom string, but rhythmically unique and inspired. This album is creatively on par with a style that people consider good, just because meshuggah isn't juvenile and is faster.

Most metalcore bands that incorporate open bottom string chugging don't really care how rhythmically creative or unique it is, they just think of it how you and most people do, which is just as its own single concept that's pretty much always going to sound the same with sort of a singular rhythm for an entire song but paired with lots of other melodies (like Trivium, newer Killswitch, etc) to give it balance. It's bands like Meshuggah, Converge, somewhat Emmure, some of Lamb of God's discog, and older Asking Alexandria that tear that concept apart. And I really don't think making actually interesting open string rhythms is easy, but not everyone fully appreciates it especially if it has the lyrics of an album like Stand Up and Scream has.

again i mean show me specific parts that meet this definition bc i'm not hearing them. there's some fast chugging in The Final Ep but it's exceptionally simple, especially compared to the fundamentals of thrash and contemporary metalcore.

oh wait there's some pseudo-mathcore chugging going on in Hey There Mr Brooks. that sounds more like every time i die than anything else.

Holy fuck you are rabid. Lil bro is actually trying to find atlantis over one comparison like his life depends on it and unable to accept disagreement, takes everything people say this seriously and acts like any of this shit matters anyway. Sorry your tech metal got offended and that you don't agree with what I'm saying.

While I’m on your side on this tranta, there’s nothing technically proficient whatsoever about this album. It’s the crux of the argument of every metal head against this album and why it’s so aurally offensive to them. I personally couldn’t give two shits about technicality so the point is moot as far as I’m concerned

“People look at old AA and say "lol all bottom string open notes so boring" and then turn around and say the Doom soundtracks are masterpieces”

This amused me, cause i like the Doom soundtracks and thought this shit was boring back in 09 and still thought it was boring when trying to give it another fair chance a year ago
