Idk, I struggle to think of anything in their catalog that you can't source back to something else that came before them. I mean it's not like they created their own genre or anything and they certainly don't have a single identifiable "sound" like a lot of bands do. That doesn't make them any lesser in my eyes; they're my favorite artist. I don't value originality that much anyways.

I guess you could argue that juxtaposing influences as they do is original though.

Radiohead are pioneers when it comes to going back to the drawing board and surprising the masses with a melding of bloops, beeps and 'ooowwweeeoooossss'

The Yorke kid is an original so they'll never truly sound like anyone else

Does Yorke's vocal skill really count as originality though? I mean his voice is his voice, he had no say in how it sounds.

Ripped off Jeff Buckley tbh. When I first heard the bends I thought he was trying to sound like bono.

He just has that Yorke thing - a tiny bit runty, Buckley was too pretty for Thom to approximate successfully, Bono was too wannabe alpha

He uses his originality to make some bloody great music though so I'd say that counts as skill

I'd say his one true outstanding piece of individualism is his fucked eyeball.

Yet none of it matters when you're in a huge rock band, as Yorke's been seen at a beach with an Italian model 20 years his younger recently. Wonky eye or no, the ladies like when you're one of the most talented songwriters of modern music.

He is from Oxford though so I'm sure the insults will have been slightly nicer/more posh

I had no idea about the Thom Yorke/Bjork influence/connection thing. Cool!

Boney dude jam Homogenic by her, it's widely considered one of the best electronica albums of all time. I've been listening to it a lot recently after having had a hard time getting into it for the longest time, and it's such an incredible listen once it clicks, like it has for me now.

Yes, Homogenic is amazing. It clicked for me straight away though, 5'd it after about 3 plays. Vespertine is the one that's taking longer.
