lyrics completely ruin it for me honestly
some of the riffs on this new album are jaw dropping by slipknot standards. album keeps surprising me

Mick and Jim are the highlights for sure, Corey's vocals are mostly shot and some of the lyrics don't sound right coming out of a 40-year-old man's mouth.

Man I mentioned it a couple of pages back, completely ruins the song.

If Rain is What You Want is a really good closer.

I think the biggest problem with the new record are the obnoxious song lengths, most tracks could've at least had 90 seconds shaved off them.

Think I'll just buy the new one when it comes out.

tbh that's how i feel about a lot of Slipknot songs. Probably not 90 seconds but some of their songs go for longer than they need to

That's just not fathomed by the game's world inspired to compose in a dance floor.

Custer's hook doesn't affect me much. Corey's vocals elevate the song enough for me to not care (which is what I think the song expects you to do). It's mindless catharsis for the sake of mindless catharsis, which is good to hear after all the whining from the previous 40 minutes.

Eh, the songs are really only about five minutes anyway. That's definitely not too long IMO. And the lyrics in Custer at least remind me of Slipknot, even if they are cheesy - it's really the lyrics in Skeptic that get me ; I mean fucking Christ, I know they are straight forward, but those lyrics may be the least creative part of the entire album.
Sarcastrophe, AOV, Lech, Nomadic, Custer, If Rain Is What You Want > everything else

If an album prefers that you listen to it on a conceptual level, I'd much rather just hear what made it to the final cut. Bonus tracks to me feel like tacked on b-sides.
If it's as good as you say it is though, I might listen to it at some point.

After a few spins there isn't much that really stands out to me. As of now, 'If Rain Is What You Want' probably is fav from the new album and Devil in I, after repeated listens very good too.

Mick and Jim are definitely the standout members on the new record, they've toned down the soloing to a healthy amount (imo they were doing a bit much on this record)
