the death of music and how universities poisoned young people against working in warehouses and starting real bands
I'll read it

My actual argument here is a band is formed with a purpose of release. Whether it be artistic, cathartic, as an outlet to something personal.

You slags all seem to want to pick up a guitar and sound like billy bullshit and the twang gang.

yeah sorry you've taken way too many meaningfully oriented acts from the last 20 yrs in bad faith for me to give two shits for that argument
no-one's gonna dispute JD were cathartic or 'authentic' as anything but it's deep cringe to pretend that was something unique to them/their time at the expense of however many other contemp sincere hardworking acts

I would also love to hear the story of how music died and how zak's inability to find good music (despite having the internet and more access than he ever did in his precious, over-eulogized 90s) is somehow not his own fault.

The truth is, zak's just lazy. He had shitty backwash alternative 90s radio handfeed him bands and he doesn't want to put in the effort to find good music. He just wants to complain about new bands not falling in his lap. Sadly, digging for good music is something saps like him will never understand because he had everything handed to him on a plate.

100% true, but doesn't that apply to the majority of gen x'ers and boomers in general? Go to any AC/DC comments section on Youtube and you'll find that classic comment: "what the hell happened to music? Why isn't it as good as it used to be?" Problem is, those same fuckers never dig for good music in the modern era and cling to the past. At the end of the day, they're just as guilty for the state of modern popular music as the people they're blaming for its "downfall". It would be really nice if people didn't give up and actually tried to dig for the hidden gems instead of spending all their time lamenting about something they could have avoided

It requieres actually a lot of effort and discipline to find the music you are looking for nowadays. There is so much music out there and so many interests and promotion inequailities (no criticism intended, just stating facts) that sometimes (more than I would like to) really good bands are very hidden and you need to have the luck or the time to find them.

"My fingers are bleeding from digging."

Keep at it then, champ. You'll find a good band one day.

@DivergentThinking @Frost15 Just like a lot of things, unless you take an active role in finding things you like, you're just gonna end up bitter that nothing you're hearing is what you personally like. I'll take kids playing music in their bedrooms and having the ability to post it online over having the ability to record be determined by what you could afford/getting signed to a label, but that's just me. If that means new bands are "not real," then I guess I'm a fake too.

Somewhat extraordinarily sowing having written an overwrought and undeserved 5 for the latest ‘pips in the apple’ record has formed a band and managed to wrench out day of the lords.

I don't agree with Zak, but most people get older and look back at their youth music scene more fondly, it will happen to every generation.

You're not wrong there. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a nostalgia buzz for trap music in the 2030s and someone tried to start a revival, just like how the 2010s were all over the 80s
