some will seek forgiveness is my favorite song on chasing safety (until the end lmao) tbh but i am a huge huge huge HUGE fan of copeland so i like barely think of it as an underoath song lol. i definitely am not getting the same thing out of it as i am the rest of the record
agree re: marisol as a closer tho. cubicle works much better def a smarter choice for this record to end on a banger

I like Some Will Seek Forgiveness but it also feels a bit cheesy to me. I'm Content With Losing is my favorite Underoath song outright so I get a little whiplash going from that to their worship song. Lol. It doesn't really fit the album all that well for me but I think it would've been fine as a standalone with Ten Friends as a b-side.
Copeland is the shit too. I need to listen to them more. I used to listen to their first couple records a good bit around the time I graduated high school in 2011.

copeland are much better than some will seek forgiveness tbf its just chasing safety isnt really my jam. im content with losing is insane tho borderline beach boys harmonies on that in places lol. ten friends would be the my pick for best song from it tho if were counting bonuses. forgot about that somehow but its incredible
you are my sunshine and eat sleep repeat are my favorites from them but its all good and they changed shape a lot

The harmonies at the end of I'm Content With Losing are what makes it my favorite. So much going on there and the build up to it is perfect.
I'll have to listen to those Copeland albums. I listened to In Motion and Beneath Medicine Tree the most. Was a big fan of Choose the One Who Loves You Most.

Honestly it's probably a 1a and 1b regarding The Used S/T and TOCS. Neither is my favorite in the genre but they cover every basis and are close to perfect.
Also bubs, I've never seen anyone call Saosin's S/T the "bug album" until I've seen you do it twice today and I can't stop interally laughing at that. Something about it sounds so goofy.

agreed on the Marisol takes, I remember I was on an hour and a half work related drive and saw the hype this was getting here, and when I saw the bands it was being compared to I was less than stoked to say the least.
But goddamn I was blown the fuck away from the jump, but back to Marisol. NOT having it as the final track was a stroke of genius imo and I was caught completely off guard when that song ended and that little acoustic intro started. Brilliant song placement here imo

lmaoooo yknow i never heard it called the bug album until i heard the members of the band consistently refer to it as the bug album and i think it like text swapped in my brain. it is very goofy (but as am i)
used's self titled is one of the only albums from my high school days for me that still like 99.99% holds up for me. it's exhilarating how well that shit still nails what it's going for and takes me right back to when i was 16 jamming it like 5 times a day. some of my favorite bridges of all time on there too. def not my fav phxc album or anything lol but for that specific like mall brand of it that album's really got it

The version of Lye Solution with Loathe rips. Don't usually care much for Loathe but they killed it there

The Used was the first exposure I ever had to post-hardcore when I heard Buried Myself Alive on the radio when I was 9. I got hooked instantly and yeah that album still goes hard as fuck. I don't think there's a better snare sound than on there and the follow-up.
Pieces Mended hits so fucking hard when it gets to the chorus. I long for an alternate universe where Bert's ego didn't wreck the band and they still have all the original members.

yeah that and they are sadly an example of how drug abuse can tear a band to pieces unfortunately

The Used S/T is god tier and easily one of my favorite albums of all time. Bert, Quinn, Jeph, and Branden were the golden lineup and it just wasn't the same after ILAD

Probably because Quinn and Branden wrote just about all of their first two albums. Jeph and Bert were mostly passengers during that time and it showed as soon as Branden got kicked out.
