"I love Destroy Erase Improve, Chaosphere, obZen, and Koloss but it really feels like they've taken their current sound as far as it can go. The Violent Sleep of Reason and this one just haven't taken the band anywhere interesting. I also don't like the muddy sound on this compared to the older albums."

The muddy production on this feels massive for a slow track like Broken Cog. However it sucks ALL the life from a song like The Abysmal Eye. Drum sound it so weak I can't stand it. It sucks because Violent Sleep of Reason's production was so goddamn perfect, every instrument is super clear yet it feels maaaaasssive. Nothing here even comes close to Clockworks anyway though.

Pretty much agree. Violent sleep is deff better by a decent amount. Good songs here nothing great tho. It's not even the production its more so the tracks themselves. Nothing here beats out clock works or stifled. Or ivory tower.... or by the ton.

I am definitely not a Meshuggah fan so I don't really like either album to be honest haha. But just because of the production, VSOR gets the bump.

wild. vsor sounds like aluminum foil to me, probably my least favorite of the entire discog production-wise

honestly haven't listened to this or VSOR enough to pick their worst song but its probably one of them. monstrocity is a bit cheesy (esp the chorus) but has some good grooves
