yknow it's probably about time i give sonhos a second chance cuz i was not into their (unsure of correct pronouns) contribution to downfall of the neon youth despite being into asian glow and parannoul's parts, i wanna see if i'm into them now
also tbh i just wanna sleep until deafheaven drops anyway

protest the hero also rips so throw them in the pile
i think my feeling is with how some people on sites like this/rym/aoty take a lot of pleasure in ruining stuff for people, i take no pleasure in not being into something that's done a lot for other ppl and i don't want to be just as bad as the people who used to bully me for being a huge bmth fan when I was a teenager

“i take no pleasure in not being into something that’s done a lot for other ppl”
Friend this whole discourse today got started by you coming in with
“never forget windmill scene meatriders will try to say post rock is bad except for when they do it”
apropos of nothing
Like don’t sweat it there’s sometimes some pleasure to be had in a little bit of shitting in people’s cornflakes but let’s be honest bout it, yeah?

see that was me being just as bad, i agree. just kinda frustrated when i feel like I'm expected to get into something but i can't, and after seeing the same types of people go after Parannoul for the crime of having a highly-rated post-rock album that isn't by their favorites...

can i really call myself a post rock fan if i do not have the entire top 10 at least 4+ rated? or does it make me a "genre tourist poser"?

Yes.
You are making yourself miserable over made up criteria.

thing is
parannoul's music is as facile and superficial as it gets
but the asianbedroomgaze scene parannoul is from is actually awesome (e.g., tonhos tomam conta or asian glow)

also, there's plenty of great post-rock out there
but once again
explosions in the sky or if these trees could talk ain't it

honestly i blame those metal fb groups i was a frequenter of circa 2014-2019, there would be these random guys who'd try to tell me that if I have not heard every classic album from every big metal band then I was a genre tourist poser bitch, and it kinda made me wonder if all the other scenes were like that. the imaginary enemy is based on past interactions pre-sputnik and feeling like there's a connection between that and modern discourse about modern artists

Those people were dweebs but it's your responsibility to grow beyond that

"can i really call myself a post rock fan if i do not have the entire top 10 at least 4+ rated?"
this would be the most poser comment I'd read in my life if it had a coherent enough identity to pose as anything at all
stop blaming random strangers on the internet for needlessly constrictive filters you're still choosing to apply to your own outlook

Letting boomer Facebook Panteracels live in your head for over half a decade is no recipe to exist healthily in the world and you should perhaps take time to process how you react to things

i mean you ain't wrong but modern discourse on certain artists reads like a total retread of the same lines as those facebook boomers. the similarities are uncanny. you'd think the internet has grown beyond attacking people for liking certain artists in a more empathetic, "sensitive and PC" age as the cancel culture grifters would claim. but no, it feels like it's just gotten worse in some circles.
